URBAN INTERVENTION

The Urban Intervention was a small scale project just next to the Liverpool Street Station in London. The intervention was designed so that it would become a part of people's lifestyle, possibly a part of their commute, creating, for instance, a morning or evening routine. The aim of the project is to increase people’s body movement and encourage active living. At the same time it would be a little oasis in the middle of the City with a green fresh air environment that is being produced by many different types of plants, all, however, herbal tea plants that are not just producing fresh air, but also herbal tea. The main reasons for using herbal tea plants also included the historical context in the area, the tea culture in Britain, and the positive benefits of having herbal tea.

The intervention is build around an existing tree and consists of a circular ramp and stairs that essentially create an continues route from one side of the tree to the herbal tea platform on the top to, finally, the other side of the tree back on the street level.
